te Pā Oke Sauvignon Blanc

te Pā Oke Sauvignon Blanc

te Pā is 100% family owned and operated by the MacDonald family. The family live at Blenheim's Wairau Bar, a land mass between the Wairau River and the sea, sort of like an island cut from the mainland by the river and the flood canal. The MacDonalds can trace their family occupation here since the first Maori canoes landed in what is believed to be New Zealand's earliest-known settlement in the 1300s.

“Our approach is to let the quality of the fruit speak for itself. The result is a range of wines we are proud to bring to the world.” Liam McElhinney, Chief Vintner is the genius behind some of the world's most iconic Sauvignon Blancs such as Saint Clair and The Ned.

This 100% single vineyard Sauvignon Blanc is produced from grapes sourced from select blocks in the lower Wairau Valley. These blocks have been historically the most intensely flavoured and balanced in the vineyard. Careful canopy and yield management was used to accentuate these positive characteristics.

Tasting Notes

The high quality of the fruit, combined with the gentle and respectful approach in the winery has resulted in a wine with an intriguing combination of poise and elegance balanced by an intense and complex flavour profile.

Aromatically the wine gives impressions of grapefruit, citrus blossom, ripe stone fruit and flint. The palate is weighty with stone fruit and citrus pith to the fore. The fruit is supported by spice and toasted nuts, a hint of toffee and refreshing acidity. A deliciously drinkable wine, which will evolve and slowly reveal layers and subtleties in the glass.
