The Sommelier Wine Awards is Britain’s only on-trade specific wine competition. Though relatively young (est. 1997), it has grown to become an invaluable point of reference for the UK’s on-trade wine buyers. Awards are some of the most sought after in the industry for those looking to gain listings in on-trade establishments and they pay testimony to the quality and value of each winner.
For the first time, Broadland Wineries entered the competition this year and is delighted to announce it gained five prestigious Sommelier Awards. With all wines blind tasted by judges, including Masters of Sommeliers and Masters of Wine; each entry must meet a number of benchmarks with food-friendliness, versatility and value for money all being scrutinised.
Exceeding the standards this year, were the following wines from Broadland’s range:
Pais de Poetas Sauvignon Blanc, 2014, Chile: Bronze award
Pais de Poetas Merlot, 2013, Chile: Bronze award
Cawston Crossing Chenin Blanc, 2014, South Africa: Commended
Compass Point Chardonnay, 2014, Australia: Commended
Three Mills Varietals Pinot Grigio, NV, Great Britain: Commended
Commenting on the results, Peter Bisley, UK Sales Director at Broadland Wineries explains:
“The Sommerlier Wine Awards’ credibility is unmatched in the on-trade. Gaining these awards not only helps to raise the profiles of our ever-growing list of award winning wines but it also reassures buyers that we are selling the kind of wines they need to be listing in their establishments.”
