Laboratory Technician (Night Shift)

Salary: £Competitive

Reporting to:   Laboratory Supervisor
Main Purpose:   Provision of routine Microbiology and Foreign Body laboratory analysis, of  alcoholic beverages. Collection and preparation of samples.
Place of Work:   Cawston, Norfolk
Hours:   Full-time, 40hrs a week, Night Shift (21:30 – 0600 – Sunday to Thursday)
Closing date:   Friday 20th September 2019

We are looking for an individual who has experience of working night shifts and is keen to work night shifts ongoing. The ideal candidate will have Laboratory experience and/or a post 16 science qualification, however candidates with a keen interest in science who are willing to learn will also be considered, as full training will be given.
The role will involve routine laboratory analysis of products, collecting and preparing samples, documenting results, completing paperwork and working closely with other departments within the Winery.  We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is happy working on their own as well as part of a team, who will complement our existing laboratory team.

It will be essential for the successful applicant to demonstrate the following:-
  • Scientific interest.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • A professional and flexible approach to tasks.
  • Willingness to learn and develop
  • Excellent record keeping showing high work standards, accuracy and attention to detail with a strong       quantitative and data focus
  • Interpersonal skills to work between BWL departments
  • Good IT skills and experience of MS Excel and database systems
It would be desirable but not essential to demonstrate the following:-
  • Qualified to A-level standard in a scientific subject or at least 2 years relevant laboratory experience
  • Previous experience within a laboratory in the food or beverage industry
  • Experience and knowledge of SAGE or similar ERP system
  • An interest in wine and the wine industry
