Broadland Wineries officially open new bottling line

Tuesday 22 April 2014

The flexible new bottling line was officially opened by Keith Simpson, MP for Broadland and attended by members of the local press. The bottling line represents further investment into the quality and fabric of the winery but also enables greater flexibility, whilst further bolstering Broadland’s ever-growing capabilities.

The new line can deliver 18.7cl, 25cl, 37.5cl, 50cl, 1 litre and 1.5 litre bottles in glass and PET formats. In addition, Broadland Wineries are now able to seal bottles with a fully recyclable Novatwist cap – making them the first in the UK to offer this option. Furthermore, it can manage batch sizes as small as 2000 litres, allowing customers to split bulk wine tankers into multiple formats and minimise stock-holdings and risks.

Broadland’s will initially use the line to focus on 18.7cl bottles, also known as 187ml single serves, as this size format is currently growing faster in volume than its 75cl equivalent. Whilst smaller batches help the retailer by limiting financial burden, the single serve bottles are also extremely popular amongst consumers as they offer a lower price risk, the perfect excuse to try a new wine without having to open a full sized bottle and they're ideal for picnics, BBQs and outdoor events.

Keith Simpson, MP for Broadland said “I was very impressed to see the new bottling line and it was a privilege to open it. Broadland Wineries are going from strength to strength and play an important role in the local community and employment.”

Mark Lansley, chief executive of Broadland Wineries concluded “We were delighted to welcome Keith Simpson to the winery for the official opening of our new bottling line. It represents a significant investment in Broadland’s infrastructure and is a major commitment by our company to meet the changing needs of our customers.”

Broadland Wineries is continuously looking at ways of improving its service, the quality of its products and the value of its offering, in terms of price paid and the finished quality of its products. The new bottling line supports this and strengthens Broadland’s capabilities of flexibility, innovation, reliability and efficiency.
